Improve the accuracy of Jayapura Municipality inflation data
Jayapura - The average general increase in prices, known as Inflation, is an important economic indicator of the development of prices of goods/services. Inflation data is used for wage/salary indexation purposes, monetary indicators, state budget assumptions, and is one of the indicators for the government to see economic growth.
For this, BPS as an inflation data provider, continues to strive to improve the accuracy of inflation data. One of them is through the implementation of the 2023 Survey of Rental/Contract Rates, Domestic Helper Wages, Baby sitter Wages, and School Tuition (STRPBS). This survey aims to obtain the latest STRPBS sample frame to replace the STRPBS sample frame that is no longer in accordance with conditions in the field. STRPBS 2023 data collection activities in 90 inflation cities in Indonesia, including Jayapura City.
In connection with this, on Thursday, 09 November 2023 BPS Jayapura City conducted officer training at Horison Ultima Entrop Hotel, Jayapura.
The two-day training was attended by 25 participants consisting of 14 ASN BPS Kota Jayapura and 11 statistical partners. In addition to providing material on STRPBS 2023, this training also provided material on the Specific Commodity Sales Volume Survey (SVK), and the Rice Retail Sales Volume Survey (SVPEB). All of these surveys are part of the Consumer Price Survey (CPS) which aims to collect basic data for inflation calculation.
The officer training activity was opened by Functional Statistician Madya Lia Pujialarasari. In her remarks, she said that this activity is important so that participants have the same understanding during field data collection so that it is expected that the accuracy of inflation data in Jayapura City will increase. "For that, please listen to the explanation from the Instructor and if there is something unclear, you can ask directly". Acting as an Instructor / Resource Person is Richard Carles Imbenay SST who will deliver all material to be guided by all field officers (PS).
